Mixed Seed Lavosh
« on: August 14, 2015, 06:42:25 am »
Mixed Seed Lavosh
Makes approx. 28
Ingredients
1 cup plain flour
1/3 cup wholemeal flour
1 tablespoon dried oregano leaves
2 tablespoons white sesame seeds
1 tablespoon poppy seeds  ( I used Nigella seeds for a peppery taste)
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon salt ( I might try a little more next time)
1/4 cup EVOO
1/4 cup water ( I needed a little more)
Preparation
Preheat oven to 180  degrees. Line 2 baking trays.
Place flours, oregano, seeds and salt into bowl.
Whisk oil and water together in a jug and pour into bowl.
Knead for approx. 1 minute.
Remove from jug and squash together with hands and knead slightly until it stays together.
Cut in half. Roll one half out to a circle so that dough is about 2mm thick.
Place on tray and into fridge for 10 minutes.
Do the same with the other half of dough.
Using a pizza cutter cut Lavosh into pieces. Spread around on tray, just so they aren't touching each other.
Cook for 15 minutes. Let cool on tray.
Do the same with the second lot of dough.

I made these from a circle but you can cut them into rectangles etc. I adapted the recipe from one in Recipe.

Made these without any fennel seeds, very moorish cookie.  I always find savoury biscuits a fiddle to make but the end result is worth it.  Made mine squarish to accommodate a piece of cheese, around 50 biscuits.

Lovely Judy. I was just looking at the original recipe and wondering where I got it from. It was the magazine Recipe!

We've got an AGM coming up next weekend and these look perfect.  For rolling out - would it work running them thruogh a pasta machine, or is that more work than help?

I think my mixture needed more water added once it was on the thermomat Marina (I see cookie added more when it was in the bowl which would have been easier) but it wasn't hard to roll out.
