Watermelon Soup
« on: September 08, 2009, 06:53:45 am »
Watermelon Soup with chocolate seeds.

Ingredients:

60g dark chocolate, buttons or chunks
60g sugar
1kg watermelon, seeded and cut into chunks

Method:

Place chocolate into TM bowl and melt for 4 minutes
at 60°C on Speed 1.

Place chocolate into piping bag and make little seeds,
or just place little blobs onto baking paper and mould into
shapes like watermelon seeds.

Place sugar in TM bowl and blitz for 20 seconds
on Speed 9.

Add watermelon chunks and blend for 1 minute on
Speed 6
.

Serve chilled. Very simple, but very refreshing.

This soup is based on a Charlie Trotter recipe that used both rockmelon and watermelon - so one half yellow and the other half red. But the rockmelons were not in the fridge, so just watermelon for now.

You can make the soup without the seeds, but they look cute. You can just grate chocolate over the top of the soup.

Oh boy - I thought that I had too much time on my hands  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  ;)

In the original - there is an optical illusion that makes you think that there is a brown line almost joining the pips - but when you look closely it's only red watermelon - see I DO HAVE TOO MUCH TIME !!!

Yeah - true - actually is supposed to be my day off, but I came in to work as I seem to be drawn to my little Bimby, like the sirens and unlike Ulysses, I do not have the men to strap me to the mast and stop me being seduced.  ;) ;)

NO - the opposite - I have to go to work to get away from her constant seductive cries.

Most of the dishes are made on Sundays, photographed,  and then it is a matter of finding time to write them up,

If I stay home fhen it is only a matter of time before she calls to me and i go running to feed her (LOL - in Italian - the TM bowl is always translated as mouth ! )

What a pretty and innovative soup. Must try it. What about a papaya soup in an oval bowl! Lemon soup with white chocolate pips? Endless fun here with summer on the way. Well it is always summer in Cairns.
