I have about a kilo of red lentils, and no idea what to do with them
. Any recipes or suggestions?

There are lots of Indian recipes - dahl is the main one. You can grind them up to use as a thickening agent for soups and you can certainly make salads with them.

You can add some red lentils to mashed potatoes. Just add them at the start of cooking and they "disappear" in the final mash. I thought they would turn the mash a slight pink colour but they don't
