Recipe Review - Playdough - Baby & Toddler Cookbook
« on: August 09, 2013, 06:14:22 am »
This was a bit of a fail for me and I'm not sure why because looking at some of the reviews of the EDC one which is very similar....it seems to work for some.

I found at first that it was too sticky when I finished so added 50g more flour and that helped it come together (maybe I should've let it mix more than 40secs like it suggested). Also how much colouring do others put in as mine didn't seem to do much (I was using the Queen Natural colours and all up ended up putting about 1/4 of the small bottles in there).

I thought it was fine in consistency afterwards but when rolling in more colours, it got sticky.

I have had very successful results using the recipe on the back of the cream of tartar packet in the past, using the stovetop.

Will try and work out what went wrong but if anyone has any advice that would be great as I would like to make it as party favours soon for my daughter's birthday.

I don't have this recipe tasty, but have successfully made the EDC recipe after years making the stove top recipe that you mentioned.  I have two boys that can't agree on what color to make, so I halve the finished dough and hand knead the color in. I use only a little bit of Wilton cake decorating color gels.

I made a batch today using the modified EDC from here. I used about a teaspoon of colouring (which was beautiful). Previous batches emptied my little droppers so for 99c I got the bigger bottle.
I had to add a fair bit extra flour today. Lots! When I used the original EDC recipe I didn't need too but I added the colour by hand last time.
