Child friendly meals
« on: February 01, 2010, 11:02:40 pm »
Can somebody (with children !!!!) please help ?  Think we have had similar threads before - but time is limited for me to search properly.  :(

Oops how dyslexic is that.  I don't know what they call themselves here haven't lived here that long.  I did mean to say Ballaratarians.  Thanks Thermomixer will try with the Consultant.  DH and DC's are loving all the yummy food.  I'm still struggling with main meals though as i want to cook more but have some fussy children who are a bit plain.  Any ideas?

Ciao

Sorry I'm no help, 2year old who eats anything  :)

There is that new cookbook on the tmx website or email which has cooking for the family?? It was only $25 I think.  Can't remember his name....Chef Laurent.  Try http://www.cheflaurent.com.au/chef-laurent-caters-for-families.html.

I actually find my daughter is eating and enjoying tmx food more because the flavours are so much better.

my 3.5 DD and 1yo DS both just devoured chicken balls made from the Chicken Dumping recipie on this forum.
Left out the dumpling part and just steamed the balls in the varoma as directed.

I'm blessed though as both kiddies pretty much eat anything. Especially sausages so I'm guessing kids like anything minced and flavoured.

Welovefood, would it help at all if when you used the TMX to cook the meals the children 'helped?'

Thanks to you all for your help.

I have an 11, 10 and 8 year old.  Only one will eat just about everything, the other two too plain.
I will have a go at some of the recipes you have suggested esp the chicken nuggets they should like those.

Its just so addictive i want to use the thermie all of the time but with plain janes its hard to know what to cook.  When i have my demo i will also ask the consultant.  Hopefully shell have some more ideas.  I probably just need to get myself some more recipe books. Any ideas on which ones would be good?

My DDs are very keen to get in and help especially with the biscuits and desserts.  My son just loves drinking the oj i make and eating the sorbets.

Don't know that its helping the weight very much, the scales seem to be going up not down. My husband and I are trying to lose 10kg in 10mths.  Don't like my chances its just too easy making such yum-mo food in this machine.  I'm just going to have to be more disciplined with what i make.  And I cant wait to go to some cooking classes.  Has anyone else been to any and what do you think of them?  Are they worth going to?

welovefood (don't we all ;)) if you haven't been to a cooking class before I would certainly go to one.  In Adelaide we have a lot of basic cooking demos and I won't go to those anymore as they are too basic once you have had your TMX as long as me but if there is something different or a guest demonstrator (like Nico) I will go if I haven't seen them before.  Once is enough for me but some people go to them all.  Recipe books - I used to buy them all but don't now as most of my meals come off the forum or from my own conversions. I don't have a favourite recipe book. People can lose weight, even with a TMX.  Bron in Spain did.
