I completely regret not getting my TM31 until my twins were 4 years old. I could have done so much for myself as well as them when they were younger! As mentioned before, soups are quick, cheap and easy but I mostly make them  for winter although  I made a lovely gazpacho the other day which was delicious just to snack on during a hot day. Also, just making salads ie coleslaw and homemade mayo is so easy. Other ideas would be making bread rolls -knead the dough and let it  rise whilst your baby is asleep and then bake them later on. Scones and muffins always go down well. Of course, the other thing that a lot of us do is to cook up a batch of whatever during 'downtime'  and freezing things for later ie freeze small portion sizes and reheat them as you need. I still do a big cookup of a few different dishes on the weekend when my husband is around and them reheat food during the week as we need it, altough at this time of year my fridge and freezer space is at a premium! Anyway, there are so many great ideas on the forum, you're bound to incorporate some of  them in your repertoire.

It's noisy but I love a banana ice cream on the hot days - I just keep little pieces of banana in the freezer.  When they are frozen solid throw about 1 bananas worth into the TMX and blend on speed 8 for 10 - 15 secs and it comes out all whipped and is like soft serve ice cream.  It is a refreshing change from just a plain banana.

What about boiled or poached eggs and a slice of toast?  http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=287.0. You can even put the varoma on the top and steam a piece of bacon at the same time.

I also used to make up muesli slices filled with nuts, seeds and dried fruits and keep them handy for when I needed to eat something quick but with lots of energy.  I haven't tried any of the museli slices on this forum yet so maybe someone else can suggest a good one.

And yoghurt is another good standby - once it's made it will last about 2 weeks in the fridge.

Otherwise I agree with Merlin - when you have time make lots of muffins, scones etc and freeze them individually and then microwave for about 30 secs to a minute when you want to eat.

I have ended up making a different version of the zucchini slice since posting this but other than that I've succumbed to temptation especially with all the choccies from Christmas.

although I asked the question, I don't really think I'll go ahead with it but thanks for your suggestions. I have made it my new years resolution thought to at least try one new TMX recipe each week and so far I have done at least one (but usually more) each day. Let's hope it continues.

When I make less main meals using thermie, I might make snacks as well. It just takes me a while to get around to doing it all.

There is a really good Milo Muesli slice on this forum - I would link but I'm not using my mouse and its a bit hard for me at this time of night  :D but its probably under my list of favourites. Its even healthier if you make the home made Milo to go in it, and then you can also have a drink of Milo for a snack as well. The slice is delicious, but I wouldn't exactly say its cheap because it uses lots of nuts and stuff -- but its good for you! (I think)

Here's the link CP

The main thing to remember when you have a young baby is to look after yourself. I used to make mini vegetable muffins, zucchini slice and always have some bananas or berries on hand for a quick smoothie. For lunchtime you could make some scrolls.

If you make things that can be frozen you can then grab one out each morning to defrost.

Also grab some nuts you like and make yourself a little cheese platter with nuts, grapes and crackers. Good for protein.
