Hi Nelleraye

I've been researching the same thing over the last week - my tiny and short 5 year old dd has been recommended a low GI to help her produce more growth hormone.

From what I have read, seems that the less processed something is, the lower the GI.  So I'm going for wholemeal breads with more grains instead of white bread - that sort of thing.  Just started cooking a banana bread recipe with all wholemeal flour instead of white.

There seems to be a common thread in books and internet sites that "whole foods" are lower GI, and limit potato.  Also beans, peas and lentils seem to be very good, so I'm looking for recipes that DD will like.

So I am trying to use my DD's favourite foods, but making them low GI friendly. And better quality sweet sources that won't spike her eg no white sugar.

Hope that helps.  Low GI is still very new to me, so if you have any further info to share, I'd be very grateful.

Have you tried Quirky Jo's lentil bolognaise recipe Cathy?  It tastes a lot like normal meat bolognaise and we all love it.  :)

I did make that some time ago and really enjoyed it.   Thanks for reminding me.  If I remember, it's chock full of hidden vegies too which is great.

Thanks. I will have to try the bolognaise! I have to change my diet because I have Insulin Resistance, which my body is making too much Insulin and it isn’t using it effectively. This can cause all sorts of nasty health problems. But I would really love some easy recipes to make in my Thermomix cause I’m at work all day! ???

I’ve read a book called the Glucose Revolution which is very interesting for low GI foods. There are some recipes in there so I think I may have to try and convert them to Thermomix friendly! I’ll let you know when I have! :)

Check out the Diabetic Living magazines.  I've borrowed a few from my MIL and they are very Low GI focused - most recipes have GI measurements in them.  So I'll add recipes as I convert them.

Tonight I'm making Cottage Pie (or Shepherds Pie) with lots of vegies in the mince, and using Sweet Potato instead of White Potato as the topping.  Simple change to the recipe makes it low GI.
