Hoping to Join the TMX Fan Club
« on: May 14, 2010, 04:35:13 pm »
Hi TMX fans,
I am a pseudo-fan from Atlanta, Georgia in the USA.  I do not yet have a TMX but am very interested in buying a gently used one if possible. Since we do not have demonstrations here in the US, nor many product owners, I have never seen a TMX in person.  I heard about this amazing appliance while on a trip in Spain.  However, I did not see the appliance. So, from research online it sounds like an amazing addition to a busy kitchen.  I have two little girls and work full time.  So, this seems like the kind of appliance that could help me cook quick and healthy meals.  It also seems that my hands could be free to tend to the girls while items cook.  The heat control seems to add the ability to walk away from the machine without the work of burning, boiling over, or other issues.  It also seems like it would be great to use when cooking with my girls.  My 3 year old loves to help me use the kitchen aid stand mixer. I have contacted representatives in the US and Canada but the $1500 price tag is difficult to justify when I have never even seen the appliance.  Does anyone have a resources for purchasing a used Thermomix?  I am open to buying the TM21 or TM31.  I am also open to buying a European model and just using a step up/ step down transformer.  I appreciate any suggestions you might have.  Please let me know if you have purchased a used TMX and your experience with the purchase.
Kind Regards

Not sure about buying second hand or otherwise where you live.  But you're "on the money" about how it helps a young family.

I have two little girls and work 20-30 hours each week.  I love that there are many meals that I can "set and forget" and read a book or do a puzzle for 10-15 minutes until the buzzer goes.  Have never burned anything, and although I've almost boiled a few things over (my fault), you can normally hear the tell-tale sounds and quickly turn it down.

My 5 year old loves helping me cook, especially chocolate custard (watch [urlhttp://www.superkitchenmachine.com/2009/2940/chocolate-custard.html]this [/url]video).  Cooking is such a great opportunity to discuss and teach so many things, so I love being able to get the girls involved.
Helping you to take back control over what your family eats, one meal at a time.

:) Hi, i have 2 kids and work from home.
It is the best $2000 i have ever spent.

i hardly use my kitchen aid now.
So many meals you can make easily, from scratch, while enjoy that family time with the kids.

Hi lcohn27! Welcome to the forum. I hope you're able to find a gently used Thermomix. They really are a wonderful machine and with 2 children and working as well, I think you will really enjoy the ease of use and shortcuts that the TMX offers.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Welcome to the cult.  You may be actually best to contact your friends in Spain.  More likely to find one there for sale.

Welcome. I hope you are able to find a thermomix soon. They are certainly wonderful machines and very addictive.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

There is one on ebay and they are prepared to post it but it is missing a few bits. I expect you could purchase those from Thermomix direct.

Thanks for the warm welcome and looking out for me for a TMX.  I have the one being sold in the US on eBay on my watch list. So keep your fingers crossed!
