Is it worth buying the extended warranty, for 3 years instead of 2?

I am about to buy a Thermomix and there is an option to extend the normal warranty from 2 to 3 years. This costs 128 .- SFr (which is about the same in Aus$'s). Is it worth getting?

I would think so chdv.  This wasn't an option when I bought mine and I am near then end of my warranty and have had a few issues with my blades.  Just think that it could be a wise investment if anything should go wrong.

I agree chdv, we were not offered the same here but I would have taken it as I always do with expensive appliances and have found in the past they usually play up just after the warranty period runs out.

here in australia those warranties are sometimes a bit of a farce. generally the machine would be expected to last more than 2-3 years without breaking down, and so as long as it hasn't been mistreated or mishandled they should by law fix or replace and you would pay for labour (or whatever you agree upon as a fair arrangement). It is often mentioned that these machines are used in restaurants and commercial kitchens, so one would think in a domestic kitchen they should also be able to withstand regular use. Read this, its very interesting.

Thanks for that info CreamPuff. I am not convinced that thermi will last as long as I want (I would expect at least 15 years for the cost).
