EDC "Bookmark"
« on: June 30, 2010, 05:21:00 pm »
Hi All

I'm always looking at the next recipe and losing my current ("tonight's tea") page.

I have now tied a ribbon to the (rear) of the top spring, so I can have more than one recipe on the go.  It seems a such simple tip, but aren't they the best the share?  :)    PS  Credit goes to Stephanie Alexander's "Cook's Companion" which includes several built in ribbon bookmarks.

It is a good idea. At the moment I use post its that stick out with the name of the recipe on it. They get very tatty though.
I remember when I first saw the TMX the lady's book was a real mess and I thought 'gosh my cookbooks get yuk but not as bad as that.' I now know the reason and mine is a really loved book too.

I also did that too to my spiral bound recipe books, and posted the tip here. Very handy indeed.

Funny how you need to read, hear, see etc something more than once for it to sink in  :o :o don't know if it actually stays in my brain or just flows on through.

Thanks CP63 - though I don't remember reading it before and wonder if it was amongst those many many pages of unread posts that I have and am trying to get through bit by bit  ???

You girls are so smart.   I can't stand messy cook books,  but this is what happens when you make two recipes at the same time from the one book.  To avoid this I print off the recipe and use this to work from.  I know ,  poor trees,   but I can't stand the gunk on the book.

I think you are smart keeping your books clean. I write all over mine. I have a dot system rating the recipe and once permanent adjustments are made I write them into the book. Neatly of course, between all the speckles that accidently get on them.
