Hazelnut Chocolate Chips Cookies (with photo)
« on: May 26, 2010, 03:13:42 pm »
Another chocolate chips cookies recipe! What can I do? I love them! :)
I converted this recipe from a Turkish magazine and they were so tasty. I've been even asked if I bought them! ;)
I hope you like this one too.

Hazelnut Chocolate Chips Cookies
Ingredients
180g sugar
2 egg yolks
200g margarine (room temperature)
450g flour
25g cacao powder
1 tsp baking powder
1 pack vanillin sugar (5g)
100g chocolate chips

to decorate:
1 egg white
Roasted hazelnuts (roughly chopped)

Preparation

Turn sugar to powder sugar for 10 seconds on Speed 10
Add margarine and egg yolks and blend for 1 minute on Speed 4 until it gets creamy
Sift in flour, cacao and baking powder. Mix for 10 seconds on Speed 3 and then for 40 seconds on Speed 4
Add vanillin sugar. Mix for 40 seconds on Speed 4
Start TM on Reverse/Speed 2. Add chocolate chips through the hole of TM lid. (1 minute in total)
Put dough in a bowl. Knead for 30seconds by your hands. Cover with plastic film and let it rest in the fridge for half an hour
Get walnut size pieces from the dough and roll. Flatten them a little. Soak the top of them in egg white and then hazelnuts. Place them in a oven tray which is previously covered with wax paper.
Bake them in the 180° preheated oven for 20-25 minutes

Enjoy!

farfallina, these sound good.  Can I ask how much is in a packet of vanillin sugar?

Thankyou, Julie.

Yes, it should be 5 gram as Creampuff63 said. I saw some 3 gram packs too though. Both would be fine.  ;)

farfallina, i am in the middle of cooking these at the moment. the dough is very dry and crumbly - was yours like this? i decided not to add more butter because i thought perhaps it was how it was meant to be, and continued rolling them into balls (well squeezing - could not flatten otherwise they would break)  ??? perhaps our flour is different to yours, and we may need less???

they did not spread out in the oven, just merely stayed in the ball shape and cracked. i poked a couple and they just fell apart  ;D

Well CreamPuff I don't know why they came like that   :-\
I used simple, all purpose flour, not a special one
These ones surely are not like those ones that you need ice cream scoop to get pieces, they will have a hard texture however they shouldn't be so hard to work with
I don't know what the problem could be  ???
Did you let them stay in the fridge half an hour before you shaped them?
