Demo menus

Hiya,
I'm new to the forum so apologise if I'm posting in the wrong section!
My TMX was delivered less than a month ago and already I can't imagine how I did without it! Lots to say (all positive!) but made DH eggs benedict with smoked salmon today which was the first time I've ever attempted a hollandaise sauce-and the TMX was even easy to clean afterwards. Fantastic. My notoriously picky toddler has eaten every. single. thing that I've made in it. Solid gold as far as I'm concerned!!
Anyhoo, that's just a lead in to my first post-which is really to ask about demos. I've had two-delivery demo and my first demo which was when I decided to buy my TMX. I have two friends who are seriously considering it and was thinking of having a Varoma demo in the future. I've read a thread expressing concern that the Varoma demo may not show off the machine
http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?action=printpage;topic=3944.0
I guess my questions are:
1. For those who have had a Varoma demo, how did you feel it compared to the standard demo? Consultants please feel free to chime in-my consultant is very keen for me to have the Varoma demo and I am too from my point of view but just wondered how newbie friendly it is??
2. How often do the menus change for demos? The two that I had were a year apart but the menu was the same-I think some of the girls will go for it but I don't want to invite them if it's just going to be the same thing, and I'd rather the newbies see the basics of the machine rather than it looking like a fancy steamer (when we all know it's a lot more than that!!).
Thanks for making it this far if you have!!

Hi AMH! Welcome to the forum. Sounds like you've made good use of it so far. The new Varoma demo is just as fantastic for newbies to see. It still has the wow factors incorporated and the basic demo is referred to through it, so when one of the newbies buy, their delivery demo will be the basic and they will see it then. But the basic demo hasn't been changed and I don't think will be in the near future - you certainly can request your consultant for some changes in it and some different dishes if everyone you've invited has seen it before. Let us know how you go.

Hi AMH, I think the Varoma demo is great for new and experienced tmx-ers - it show off what the tmx can do even more than the basic one does, in my opinion! And everyone I've done one for has loved the food, and been very impressed! I would definitely have a Varoma demo if I was you. The more you see, the more inspired you'll be!

Hi AMH, welcome to the forum. Great to hear about the toddler eating everything you cook nowadays.

I have been to a number of demos (all with the same consultant) and she tried to mix it up a bit, as there were a few people coming for the 2nd time to decide one way or another. The last one I went to, she made pumpkin soup as the main (as there was a vegetarian there) and it was fantastic. The salad was a winter style coleslaw (delicious) and instead of custard, she did the sticky date sauce in there (the host had pre-made the puds). I have also been to demos and had risotto, vegetarian curry, steamed fish fillets.

Thanks everyone! It sounds like a Varoma demo is the way to go. I've got a similar situation to you Caroline J-a couple of friends who need to see it again to make a decision.
Thanks quirkycooking and Nay-Nay for chiming in about the demo too as that was the only downside (well, that and DD2 who will arrive any day now...)
Hee hee JudyDawn, I'm not getting used to it but gee it makes a nice change. I think the fresh flavours have won her over!
Thanks again everyone!

I went to another demo last night (all my friends are slowly being converted, and invite me along!) and the Consultant made pasta e fajioli (spelling?) and it was a great choice for the main, I thought.

I had that at my demo and we all enjoyed it, although I haven't made it since.

pasta fagiloi is one of those recipes, you either love it or hate it. It is a firm staple in this house - everyone loves it (and of course I can make it standing on my head asleep!!) if you want a change add about 100g of bacon

What, and leave the beans out
I think that is the part of the recipe that spoils it.

Ha ha - it's a firm favourite in our house too, but not with borlotti beans, only cannelini - and some tomato paste too.
