loving my thermomix!

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to introduce myself as a new person to thermomix and to this forum! We have had our TMX for just over a month now, and it has changed my life! I sent an email to Jo (Quirky Cooking) about our TMX experiences, and she suggested I post it here too - so here it is! I am SOOO looking forward to getting inspiration and advice from this forum too - now that I have found it!
I have 2 little boys (3 ½ and 1) and have a full-time job that involves lots of on-call and out of hours work. My husband has taken extended leave without pay from his job to stay home and care for the kids (I am very lucky), rather than having them in fulltime childcare. And whilst he is a FABULOUS father and looks after them so well, he is not much for planning and preparing food. And having good, wholesome, nutritious food for the family is really important to me. So I used to work long hours all week, and then spend my evenings and weekends planning food, shopping, preparing food for the week and cleaning up afterwards. I ended up exhausted and resentful and having a real love-hate relationship with food, not to mention missing out on important time with the kids and with DH. DH used to tell me to give myself a break and to take “short cuts” in the kitchen to make life easier, but everytime I looked at something that was a shortcut, it seemed to compromise the quality of the food, or have heaps of artificial additives in it, and I just couldn’t bring myself to serve up most of the “quick’n’easy” pre-prepared options that I could find in the supermarket.
And then one day a friend invited me to a TMX demo – and it all changed! Now I can whip up fabulous, tasty, nutritious meals in minutes and with minimal mess in the kitchen. And finding your blog has opened up a whole new world of cooking for me, using far more wholefoods that I would have previously, introducing me to new ingredients and making so many things from scratch ourselves! And an added bonus is that DH obviously loves a “gadget” and has taken to the TMX like a duck to water, and when I get home from work now he has whipped up all sorts of things in it during the day (the other day I got home to find a new batch of vege stock concentrate in the fridge, homemade milo powder, a cake cooling on the bench, stewed rhubarb and apple cooling down and tuna pasta made for dinner for the kids
So between the TMX and your blog, I am far more relaxed, enjoy cooking again, have far more time with the kids and have a much better relationship with DH – and still serving up wonderful healthy food!
I cannot thank you enough …….

So lovely to hear how TMX has improved your life.
I'm also loving how easy it is to whip up from scratch nutritious foods for the kids.

Hi KJH, welcome to the forum. Stories like yours would sell a thermomix to anyone in two minds about buying one. I'm so pleased to hear it has improved your lifestyle and relationship and how lucky are you having such a wonderful husband. I agree with CP63 as now that DH has started using the machine, he will go on to bigger and better things so it would pay to have ingredients on hand to make his choices easier. Good luck with the juggling of work, family time and recipe planning.

Welcome KJH, your post was such a feel good story. TMX has only been a part of my world for the last couple of months and I can assure you that the support and knowledge gained from the experts on this forum is invaluable. Our 25 yr old daughter, who has been livng with us while their house was being constructed, announced while visiting - the
Thermie
was the thing that she most greatly missed about not living at home!!!!!!!!!!!
So your post was fully understood by our family.
Cheers

What a fantastic story - so glad that you've shared with us. It's wonderful to see THX making such a difference to your family.
A happy mum makes a happy house, and it sounds like you've certainly achieved that. Keep that pantry stocked, and sounds like DH and TMX will do the rest.

Thanks everyone so much for your warm welcome and encouragement! Good advice too about keeping the pantry stocked for DH ............. he had our 3.5 year old son in the kitchen over the weekend "helping" him cook in the tmx
We had a gorgeous long weekend here in Adelaide, and every day we got to go bike riding together as a family, instead of me staying at home cooking while DH took the kids outside .......... vorwerk could market the TMX as an alternative to relationship counselling
