Vanilla or Buttercake
« on: November 11, 2010, 03:36:24 am »
I'm after a no fail vanilla or buttercake.  I'm attempting a unicorn for DD1 birthday next week and I plan on dividing the batter after mixing into 3 or 4 parts and adding food colouring to also make it a rainbow cake IYKWIM.

Kym, what about this Easter Cake, it looks easy to convert and would adapt to being a Rainbow cake. any q's let us know.

Looks pretty good.  I might to a test run on the weekend to make sure.  I don't want a flop on the day.

Have a look at my blog - I've adapted my cake what I use for parties and decorating to Thelma and it's up there as a lemon poppyseed one ATM. It's a dense butter cake as I need it to be pretty robust for decorating. Just leave out the lemon zest and juice and add a teaspoon of vanilla paste or essence to it instead.

either of these ones are great

I have made the highlight cake since I was a child with all the variations that are there, especially vanilla/butter for kids birthdays
