Are you using fresh or dried yeast Jabejak.  I once bought some fresh and it didn't work as it had been in their fridge for too long and was obviously out of date.  If you are using dried yeast there should not be a problem.  Where are you, is it warm there. In Adelaide nothing would have a problem rising with our temperature here today.  The last lot of pizza dough I made was from here so have a read of that thread and maybe try it next time (do the rolls too, they are lovely) http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=4402.0

Is your yeast ok?  Did you have things too hot and kill it? Maybe it's not warm enough for it to rise quickly.
What recipe did you follow Jabejak?

It was the pizza base recipe from the EDC.

I used packet yeast and cold milk. The weather in Melb is warm enough to make it rise. I did it at 5pm thinking that it would be long enough to rise then cook dinner but it was still the same as it was when I put it in the floured bowl.

Do you cover the bowl?

Jabejak,  I've checked out the pizza dough recipe in the EDC book.  The recipe is Ok but the process is not good.  Any bread type dough needs WARM fluid to activate if  it is to double in the 30 mins. You can double the dough using cold water or even in the fridge but it will take 8/ 12 hours,  even in a warm climate.   Try it again using warm fluid.  Make sure that you keep the dry yeast packet firmly closed.  The ideal room temp is between 20 and 25 degrees.

That's where we all started Jabejak  :) :)  The only way to learn is to ask questions and have a go which is exactly what you are doing. 8) 8)

yep that is it. All yeast should be put in with lukewarm liquid. Hope you have success next time

Jabejak,  you will need to bring frozen dough back to room temp  before you make your pizzas.  Have fun ;D

Thanks ACW will remember that. I usually get things out in the morning and let them get to room temp before cooking, meats aside.

Have made the Naan dough today as we are having butter chicken tonight so am looking forward to seeing what that is like.
