Help I need a new Oven
«

Can I please ask for help in buying a new Oven, I am moving soon and the best part is I will be leaving behind my Emila Oven, it is just awful burns the bottom of everything, (the gas is at the bottom, not along the back wall) I even bought a little turbo convection oven which is ok but not big enough, I don't use the main oven so much now but I do love to bake and over Xmas I cooked two Xmas cakes both of which I had to top and tail the burnt bits off. So any recommendations will be greatly appreciated I am in Qld.

I'd definitely go for an electric oven, they are so much better than gas. In fact, friends of ours recently had to change theirs and had to search high and low to even find a gas one. I have a Miele and am very happy with it - took me a while to get used to these new fandangled ovens though. I liked the old ones which only had an on/off switch and a temperature control knob

I have an Omega and it hasn't been too bad. Brother has just put in a Miele and he is thrilled with it.

I have a Westinghouse which does the job but if I was building or renovating a kitchen where the oven needed replacing I would go meile. With ovens some brands can have a 15degree variance in different parts of the oven and with whereas with a meile I think it is 1degree. Good luck and make sure you compare prices if you go for anything other than a meile. You don't often get a deal with meile unless it is a display model from a department type store.

I agree with the previous comments about electric, and in particular Miele. They're a bit pricey but worth it. I have a friend who works for Miele and they very rarely, if ever give discounts. I currently have one now and will put one in the house we're about to build. Trying not to think about the cost!

I have a Smeg, which is quite good, but I feel that I have never quite conquered the "bells and whistles" - probably my fault more than the oven's. I also use an older Chef which is terrible - it has a huge variation in temperature on each shelf, even though it is fan assisted; I have to drop the cooking temperature by about 20 degrees and I also have to turn things around about every 5 - 10 minutes and even then I usually end up with burnt edges on my baking!
From the sounds of it, Mielle seems to be a pretty good option. If you can, pop down to your local library and read up on the Choice magazine articles - there is bound to be something fairly recent that you can refer to.

I have a st. George and love it. The st.G. Had the option of a side opening door, from either side, which is good if you are short. It also has a double oven which is handy. The only problem is that it turns itself off if it thinks it. Is too hot. This is at about 250o. I had a Chef and it kept throwing the thermostat.Size is something to be considered. good luck and do your homework as it is important.

I have a blanco, which does a great job, but has broken down and cost nearly $400 to repair!! and it was only 3 years old. When I got my new oven I wanted an electirc, self cleaning (pyrolitic - love this feature) muti-function oven. I love the muti-function aspect as it cooks bread, pizza, cakes, roast etc all to perfection. Don't know if I would go for the same brand again, but would def go for pyrolitic and multi-function again. Good luck, buying anything like this is always so confusing - too much choice. I've heard the stea ovena are amazing too..sigh dream on..

We are in the middle of renovating and have done a HEAP of research and shopping around for new kitchen appliances ..... and after reading heaps of review articles and talking to heaps of people and going through heaps of showrooms, we decided on Miele. As everyone else says, they are a bit pricey and rarely discounted - but if you have a DJ's card you can get them 4 years interest free, and also earn reward points that convert into gift vouchers - which we have saved up to put towards a new fridge - more $$$

Hey, I have a Miele....love it, except it is a little hard to clean ....the greyish easy clean surface really needs to be wiped out EVERY time you use it
You could also go to
www.choice.com.au
and take a look on there or
www.appliancesonline.com.au
and compare brands/features/costs
Cheers
