grapefruit sorbet?
« on: December 24, 2010, 05:15:45 am »
Hiya,

grapefruit sorbet is a must for Xmas in my family and so I said I'd bring the tmx and whip it up in a flash between courses.

But now I've read the recipe in the book and I'm not sure if it's exactly what I want.  As I'm using grapefruit it won't have the sweetness of the berries (or whatever), but I don't want it so tart we can't eat it.  Anyone know?

Thanks!!!

I'd give it a go with more sugar, although I guess it would be too late now.

Okay,  late reply.

I ended up with:

1 manky grapefruit that the possums hadn't eaten,  from the tree in the backyard
2 oranges, already zested for another recipe and
2-3 lemons also previously zested

I think that's right,  I just kept adding until I got the right weight.

(Honestly, my sister has a fruit bowl full of zested fruit!!!)

It was a kerfuffle,  because here I was doubling the recipe and completely forgot that the recipes in the book at 'capacity'.  SO, I had to pour the mixture in and out as I got it all done.

In the end,  it was delish!!!!!  And I used the same sugar as the recipe.

That's good news. I loved the description of the grapefruit.
