Drinks recipe challenge
« on: March 10, 2011, 05:39:59 pm »
All you good folks here on this forum - here's a challenge for you.  Since my teens I have had a glass of wine with my dinner, and I don't feel like I've had a proper meal unless there's a glass of wine with it.  The flavours just aren't brought out the same, and it isn't the same pleasurable experience.

However, I need at least a couple of days a week which are alcohol free according to health guidelines. But I love my food - the whole dining experience.

So does anyone have any recipes for special drinks which would compliment the flavours of food like wine does?  Which I can use as wine replacement?  I think we have such a gifted group of people here that between us we could come up with a variety of suitable recipes.  So the challenge is on ...
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

We can buy non-alcoholic wine & beer also I think from the supermarket Caroline. How about an apple cider drink.  I think anything like this served in a wine glass would feel like you were having an alcoholic drink.  I know years ago when I was on a diet but having visitors to a meal, I would serve myself water in a wine glass whilst the others had wine and no-one ever picked the fact that I wasn't drinking alcohol.

Have you tried to have half a glass of wine with soda water? I'm a bit like you, I love a glass of wine with my meal. I didn't want to open another bottle last night as I'm going away so I add cider...........but it was alcoholic cider. ;)
Would sparkling water in a lovely glass suit?
