I just made the crumpets from TM facebook page to me they just taste like pan cakes anyone else tried them?.

JD, no its not. It doesn't have yeast. Looks very much like a recipe for American pancakes or pikelets

baking powder instead of  bicarb soda

Sounds like they're waffles, not crumpets!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.
