hi everyone, I've been reading and learning from so many posts and recipes on this forum, I thought I'd better introduce myself.  I'm a mum of 2, DD is 8 and DS is 5 and DH is the main instigator of me getting a thermomix.  Long story short, he noticed me losing my cooking "mojo" and really getting upset thinking about cooking or baking.  So he heard some workmates raving about it, we booked a demo and bought it for me.  Have had it for 1 month now and have made a few things, Thai green curry, cookies and the choc cake from the EDC. 

I just wanted to thank all the members here for posting such great recipes, I feel very insecure about using it (it's like a new car!) so I follow the recipes to the letter.  So the more I research in this forum I pick up lots of tips!  So thank you!  :)

Welcome, Chris.  Perth is certainly the place to be if you have a Thermomix - a great many of our more active members live there and often arrange informal get togethers so you will get loads of additional support.  I too still follow recipes pretty closely but find I am cooking things just because I can and am starting to get a bit more adventurous in what I cook.  It amazes me that this has happened because we live in the heart of a major restaurant area in Melbourne offering such a variety of cuisines that it had previously been easier to just pop down the road for a takeaway than to "bother" to cook dinner and now I prefer to make my own.  I am spending more money on ingredients, etc. but saving much much more by not buying takeway every night.

Hi Chris, great to have you join us.  I can relate to your reference of starting off with the TMX is like driving a new car - had that experience last year so know where you are coming from.  Just as getting comfortable with a new car happens, so it will with the TMX. Your confidence will grow, you will read a recipe and think, that's not right and will adjust the times etc to what you know will work better for you. It all takes time though and there is nothing wrong with following a recipe to the letter, I still do it until something jumps out at me which doesn't sound right.  You will love it here, it is a wonderful, friendly forum which is still growing by the day.

Welcome Chris. I still follow recipes the first time I do them (unless something seems really wrong) and then if we like the base flavours ect I will tweak to our taste if required.

I've been so busy TMXing that I haven't been on for a bit, I've just been cooking alsorts. Gail, who I purchased my machine from is on her way for my first demo that we are hosting. I've cooking a barage of things so that I had plenty of experience before tonight and a few questions, but really there isn't any, all the recipes I've used have been great, so thanks to all who have posted them in here.

The TMX really makes my life a breeze... Well I'm off for a yummy risotto , I haven't done one myself yet didn't want to wreck one and thought best for DH to try one from somebody who knows what they are doing first, afterall after gails last cooking demo he now eats couscous, spinach and chickpeas???!!!!
