Milk carton used as bread tin.

I heard recently that someone was using an empty milk carton as a bread tin.  That is to cook a loaf of bread in.  Has anyone heard about this?  What would be the health risks and would it need to be lined ?  Any comments would be appreciated.

I wouldn't have thought that the inside of a milk carton could take the heat.

I had to stop a think about this one for a while. I didn't understand what you ment. So you are talking about the cardboard milk cartons?  Sounds quiet odd. Never heard of this before either. I'm interested to see what people come up with.

  I've never heard of it either but I followed this link that CP63 put in and found a recipe  by Gordon Ramsay for milk carton bread and  ... puffin breasts!!!  Think I'll make some now?!  Maybe I could substitute shearwater aka mutton bird breasts (our local once-regularly eaten--bird instead).  Wrong time of the year now, sigh, they've all migrated to spend summer in Siberia!

CP63, thanks for this link.  Had trouble getting past the Puffins.
Also found a Icelandic recipe for dark rye bread cooked in a hot spring, in a milk carton. I have read that you can cook bread in a well buttered paper bag.
