Chicken Tikka Masala question
« on: September 09, 2011, 09:20:50 am »
. . . just on the off chance that someone who has made this dish is on line pretty soon . . . I was wondering if anyone had made this recipe IN the tmx, rather than on the stove top?  I just cleaned my stove top and don't want to splatter it!

Thanks!

Thanks Hally, already made paste, have only ever used it for butter chicken before.  I wonder, did you actually cook it IN the TMX as the recipe states to do it in a pan?

I marinated over night, always try too. I cooked in tm, heatd oil, then added chicken cubes, (if it had been laege pieces i would have flamed grilled) then let it cool for afew mins before  adding yighurt. I think all things like thus are nice on the hot grill. Next time i would use pieces and hot grill but thats my personal view. Chicken tika I used the hot grill and it was yum. I have a long grill takes  up 2  gas burners.

Hope ths helps
Hally :)

Thanks so much Hally!  I have grilled chicken marinated in the paste on the barbie, but felt like something "saucier" tonight ! :-))

Thanks Hally for your prompt replies . . . I ended up cooking the chicken tikka masala in a pan on the stove after all!  I decided to make the chickpea curry in the tmx at the same time.  We loved this!!  Thanks so much for your prompt replies though, at least I know I can cook in the tmx and keep my stove top clean!

Its in the Indian cookbook on page 97.  If you don't have the book, I'll inbox you with it if you like.  I have posted our family favourite chick pea and spinach curry, Chole Palak, here:
