hi and welcome ollie. i dont think you could do a roast roast chicken in the varoma what you could do is 1st steam the chicken then brown it off in the oven, having said that i am the last person on this forum to give advice on roasting

Hi and welcome to the forum Ollievollie.
This
recipe may help you will cooking (steaming) a whole chicken in the varoma. You can use the method and timing and then perhaps brown it on top of the stove if you like but we don't eat the skin here anyway so would just remove it. Served with gravy it would be nice and moist and tender. I roast my chickens in the weber but have done this soy chicken recipe and it is lovely.

Thank you Judy, I did it today for 30 mins in veroma then finished off in the oven for 40 mins, so tender and moist.

That's great OV, did you save the chicken flavoured water for stock?

Will be back shortly - yes, it can be done, but you'll have "Roast" Chicken rather than "Röast Chicken"- The browning of the skin comes from a marinade. I'm just looking for the recipe we got at advanced steaming class. BBS.

Sounds interesting Ollievoliie. The idea of 'steamed' roast/bbq etc is a new one for me.. Shall have to see if I am brave enough once my TM arrives.
