« on: December 09, 2011, 01:38:04 pm »
Hi,
Just received my second hand Thermomix, and now giving it a stir....but I find it quite noisy.
Please play my uploaded videoclip with sound on, and tell me please, if this sounds OK?

Julia,
Thank you!
First for your warm welcome in the "introduce yourself" thread, your very good bread comment, and for your opinion here!
Kind regards
Henrik

That's no problem and talking of making pizza dough in the TM you might like to see this video http://www.stephberg.com/?p=2859 A very sweet and clever little Australian boy is making it.

Henrikc, as JB said, the Thermomix can be quite noisy.  In my experience I have found it a little rattlier on some speeds as it gets older, mine is 3 years old but I did think yours was noisier than mine.  Hard to tell though as I could have had the volume up too high. Was there anything in the bowl at the time you made the video?  Have you cooked or made anything in it yet, that will be the real test. Be prepared for some very loud noise when crushing ice!
Have you checked out Vorwerk Germany for things like spare parts, problems etc so that down the track, when and if you need their help you know exactly where to go?

Yes Henrick, the TMX is noisy for many tasks.  I've been thinking about keeping a pair of ear muffs in the kitchen.  After all I wear ear muffs when I'm using different bits of machinery around our farm...  And I want to hear when I'm older  ;D

I have nothing to add to the above except for the fact that I wear noise cancelling headphones for anything over speed 7.  You can still hear, but the headphones cut out the uncomfortable noise frequencies.

Thank you Judidawn, Carine, Fundj and Cuilidh,
for taking the time to listen in...

The TMX was loaded with 200g water and 200g wheat flour as a pre mix for baguettes during the noise test, and Judidawn, you are so right, the sound level is very different compared to an empty bowl.

The machine otherwise performs as or better than I expected.

After the dough, which turned out fine, I prepared a mix for meatballs as a supplement for the following broccoli soup....and all worked fine and was so easy.

My machine is indeed a TMX 31, and spares seem to be available from Spain for the DIY-owner.
So far it seems things are not too bad with mine though, fingers crossed.

Now I'll enjoy a first batch of pancakes from the TMX as part of a less healthy breakfast!

Thanks again all for your contributions!!!

By the way, I am surprised of how easy it was to make the video on youtube, which improved the discussion here.
