Spanish TM book
«
on:

I want to order some Spanish TM books, but want to make sure I don't get one that has the same recipes in as the one I got with my TM (Fast and Easy Cooking, which I think is the same as the Australian EDC. Does anyone know the title of the Spanish equivalent so I know NOT to get that one? Thank you

The Fast & Easy Book you get with the TMX In the UK is not the same as the EDC - there may be some overlap in recipe titles but the contents of the recipes are different.
I think the UK book was written especially for the UK market and doubt there would be any overlap with Spanish books. You could always contact the UK Thermomix HQ to ask them as they'll be able to confirm whether I'm talking through my hat or not

Thanks Katya. Contacted HQ and they are not sure. They only stock Spanish translations of ‘Full Steam Ahead’ and ‘My Way of Cooking’ which I may as well buy in English and a Spanish written one called 'Thermomix tm 31 - imprescindible para tu cocina'. I have just ordered the latter from Amazon.es together with 2 other TM books (one on sauces and dressings and the other on Spanish cooking). Also 4 non-TM books from which I hope to convert several recipes. There is a one-off charge of 6 Euros for postage so thought I'd order some extra books

Katya, my Spanish books arrived today and it transpires that the Imprescindible one is the standard book that comes with TMs over there. However, as you said, it has completely different recipes to Fast and Easy plus a lot of them are accompanied by lovely colour photographs

That sounds great JB - how do the recipes seem to you? I love spanish food so maybe I should look into getting a copy for myself - it would certainly test my Spanish

Hi Katya. The ones I have tried so far seem fine except that you may feel the need to cut down on the sugar quantities sometimes. The Spanish have a sweet tooth. The book 'Imprescendible' book is comprehensive and most of the recipes are for the more well known Spanish dishes whereas 'Cocina Espanola con Thermomix' has some more unusual recipes. The instructions are clear and nicely laid out. You can get some (but not the ones I have ) from
Amazon UK
but there is more choice on
Amazon Spain
of course. Surprsingly
Amazon France
has quite a few in Spanish and other languages too, so there is plenty of choice
It is an excellent idea to buy books in any language you want to brush up on. I have several Spanish ones, plus a few French and it really does help if you refer to them regularly and as a result the two easiest subjects for me to talk about in Spanish are recipes and cheese, because I do it all the time and even help a non-English speaking Spanish friend to write about cheese for his wonderful cheese blog. You will find the TMX recipe books particularly easy to understand. So go on, be a devil and get yourself one.

Sounds very tempting but as I've just got In The Mix, I think I should give myself a month or two off new books
Maybe I can put them down for birthday presents

What is In the Mix like? I saw it on the UK TMX site and was tempted but want to save up for a food dehydrator

I think it's really good and different. I haven't had a chance to study it in much depth yet but on the initial read through it certainly fired my imagination.
The food in it is stuff I would do for special occasions rather than for everyday use. It isn't cheap but I think it's worth it.

Ok, thanks Katya. I will add it to my list of 'wants'. Trouble is, I already have almost 800 conventional cookery books collected over more than 30 years and DH is getting rather exasperated with me for wanting to build up a collection of TMX books. I don't blame him though as we really haven't the space

In the meantime JB, Helene has links to many of the recipes on
her blog.

Thanks Bonsai, but I really don't mind it at all. I very rarely get to Spain to practice the language so I rely on books and newspapers to prevent me from forgetting what I have learnt.
Now CP
Purge is not a word that is used in this household and DH knows that it is a waste of time to try and convince me otherwise ...
