The whole problem of unsolicited advertising on the other forum is easily solved by allowing a section for advertising!

It's simple.

Then, if you want to advertise anything or talk about something such as the Zuko Pop thingy, you put it in that section. Perhaps I need to make a suggestion in the feedback section.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I got my zoku pops set just before Christmas - and it works a treat!  The kids love them!  The drip-proof bases are not exactly drip proof as they claim to be, but they are still better than the Tupperware version.

I have not been very adventurous with the fancy layered and decorated pops yet, but have been doing lots of fruit juice pops and fruit/yoghurt mixture pops.  I often use the TMX to make up the mixture and then just pour it into the pop-maker thing.  I will be buying the storage container too, since the actual pop maker only makes 3 at a time, but can make up to 9 pops before it needs refreezing, and I would find it easier to make a bigger batch and store them instead of making only 3 at a time.

There is heaps of scope for creativity here for those who have a creataive brain!  But the product works really well .........

I'm still keen to buy a maker but I have two problems:
Firstly, can someone please convince Melbourne to have  summer weather???
Secondly, how on Earth do I hide it from my husband who  is permanently on the warpath about me getting new gadgets, although I have never ever heard him complain about my thermie!!
Mind you,I just bought an American stovetop popcorn maker called a Whirley-Pop  and I think my husband almost had a seizure when he saw it. I'm sure he won't complain when he eats popcorn made in it.

haha merlin..been there actually im always there...my two big weaknesses are cooking gadgets and cookbooks...always buying something....im looking a the lagrange pasta maker at the moment but my problem is where the hell i can put it in the kitchen as i have no more space and have already told DH that we need to redo the kitchen as our next big project to give me more storage and bench space..hrrrmmm when he complains though i just ask him if he would prefer no great homemade food and perhaps for me to be more like some of his mates wives who dont cook at all and tend to just reheat frozen foods at best..that usually snaps him out of it! lol

Thanks Kim
Great tip! Will bear this in mind next time I see my husband guzzling down my food made in the thermie.
I also have a huge problem with buying cookbooks, but as I have a bookcase with spare space, I just pace out when I buy my books, so it doesn't seem to be noticed. By the way, why am I feeling guilty when he buys things for himself as he needs without asking me first????

It's easy Merlin - my husband is the same - but the zoko pop maker hides very nicely in the back of the freezer (with other things stacked in front of it), and the plastic sticks hide very well in a snap-lock bag in the back of the tupperware cupboard  ;)

I suspect mine would discover this method as well, particularly as he delves into the freezer quite frequently. Oh well, back to the drawing board!

I made the frozen mango recipe from this forum

http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=4913.0

and froze them in the zoku pop maker.  Worked great!  Probably a bit too much mixture though, since the pop maker only does 3 at a time, but you could easily halve the recipe.

My sister just got one for xmas. You keep the base in the freezer and then you can make up to 9 pops in it before the base has to be refrozen. However there is a storage container you can buy which stores pre made ones in the freezer if you require more at one time or just want to grab one straight from the freezer at any time. You can also buy extra sticks etc. There is also a great recipe & ideas book you can get too. I know that "Williams Sonoma" is the main supplier in the USA but I am not sure f they post to Oz. I have also seen them on ebay from time to time.

:) just wondering if anyone is still using these. Can you give me feedback.  Do you use it, or does it just sit there.

i was going to buy one yesterday, but the shop assistant was interested in going home, not selling stuff.

i might try online, thanks again.

I used it a lot over summer, but now that it is cold it is just sitting there in the cupboard and the freezer.  To be perfectly honest - I dont know that I would buy one again.  It is great for making almost-instantaneous icy-poles, but keeping the base in the freezer can be a bit of a pain.  Since getting the TMX I am more likely to whip up a batch of sorbet or fruity dream or one of Quirky Jo's magic concoctions!  If  you are even just a little bit organised, you can make up a batch of icecream mix or juice or yoghurt or something like that, and freeze it in the Tupperware or similar other brand icy-pole trays.  Takes up less room and is less of a fiddle.  So in summary - really the only thing going for the zoku pop maker is that it is really quick to make up icy-poles on the spur of the moment.  You can do all sorts of fancy things with it too, like layered icypoles with different colours - but I never bothered.  Hope that helps - but that is just my opinion - others may love it!

:) Thanks, i wanted to buy one, but at $69 for the kit, and then $26 for the accessories to decorate, that's alot of ice blocks.

I think I can safely buy one now as you can  now buy pop makers  that only make one or two at a time and take up less space than the one that does 3!
