Just bought a Thermomix in Sydney
« on: January 01, 2012, 11:49:47 pm »
Hi there,
Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum.
I am a working mother of 4 young children. I have had the Thermomix since Xmas eve and have been mucking around with it since. The main reason why i have bought it is i can't be bothered cooking, i am over a lot of things, and the Thermomix seems like a must to make things easier for us! Whack in ingredients, press some buttons and its done.
So far I have used it for dinners, and have made chocolate moose, custard and my first dough yesterday. I dont get excited about much these days but i can see this item is going to make my life easier. I just bought a mat and was thinking in the future i may need another jug!

Hi mr13 and welcome, 4 young children I can see why you feel you are over everything, you are a super Mum, if the kids are fussy at breakfast, just make them a smoothie with Banana honey and can ever throw in a egg or two, easy and they love it I know my GK'S do.  Just think to the future, I have three adult children and 9 grandkids, who always seem to be here, and here I'am saying I'm a one person household LOL , DDiL  and GS No 9 are asleep and here now have been for three days while DS went camping.  "too hot for the baby".

Hi mr13, welcome to the forum.  The TMX seems to inspire people to get back to cooking if they have lost their mojo so hopefully this will be the case in your house. I once heard a 60 something year old woman on a bus (many years ago) telling her friend she has run out of ideas for meals.  Run out of ideas  ??? ??? - we never run out of ideas here regardless of our age and there are plenty of us well over 60 here  ;)

Yes indeed , plenty over 60 and loving every minute of it.

Welcome Mr13. When you feel you need a little 'time out' come and spend some time on the forum. Your excuse is that you are finding something to cook for dinner. Let's hope you get your mojo back - we'd all love to help.

I was also 'over' cooking pre thermie. I've had my thermomix for 5 days and have cooked more in the last 5 days than I have in the last 5 months! (DH does most of the dinners!) Now we have to fight over the THX. It will renew your desire to cook, mr13. ;)

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.  ;D
Well i made a goulash last night, was a bit watery but seems that is a traditional goulash? ,  and i have my eldest making me a chocolate cake at the moment whilst i am typing so hopefully i get my "mojo" back. i like that term :). My daughter has just noticed i have it in the kitchen which is pretty funny since i have had it since xmas eve! definately want the kids to learn how to use it!
Go Aussie brenda. I can not even imagine what it is like to have grandparents babysitting but i will make sure that i have my kids and their kids around me like you guys when i am in my 60s!

Welcome mr13 - like you I was 'over' cooking but have found myself keen to try new things (which the kids aren't always happy about - fussy little beggars, but the custard soon shuts them up  ;)). Even on a hot day like today I can't resist wandering into the kitchen to make something on 'The Wiz', which is very unlike me!
