Soy Sauce Chicken (A Taste of Asia page 47)

Has anyone ever tried this recipe? I want to make Jambalaya in the TM, which also involves boiling a chicken, but was wondering if 30 minutes at 90 degrees is enough to cook it properly. I know it is only for a small chicken, but I still it may need cooking for longer. Thanks

Thanks CC, that's great and sounds better than immersing it in water. As I shall be using a rub rather than a marinade I may wrap it in foil, rather than using a dish, but not sure if that will alter the cooking time. We cannot get roasting bags where I live unfortunately. It is a recipe I am trying to convert for TMX from a conventional one.

JB
Lakeland do
roasting bags
and
steaming bags
They are a superb company to deal with and delivery is fairly quick.
If you don't want to deal with Lakeland I can always get some for you when I go shopping next and post them to you JB

Thanks, CC, you are very sweet and kind. I didn't realise that they sold them in Lakeland, so I can get some next time I go to Cheltenham, where there is a branch. We used to have a lovely little cookware shop where I live, but it closed down through lack of business, so I have to get most of my cooking stuff online

JB,
here's
a early thread where Thermomixer cooked a whole chicken on the blades.

I have made this about 5 times, yes it does cook in the tie & the resting time.
I had touble once when I used the liquid from the fridge. If you reuse the liquid it must be hot to start.
We all really enjoy this recipe.

I've made this a few times and love the flavours that get right into the chicken from the stock. Sooo yummy.
Although after my first effort I had to make sure i bought a smaller chicken as the first had its neck poking out through the hole in the lid.
The stock I have also used to baste onto meat that is on the rotisserie (sp?) on the bbq. Very tasty.

Thanks for all your very helpful replies
I made
chicken jambalaya
today and steamed the chicken in the Varoma basket and it worked well. Will give the Soy Sauce Chicken when I get some roasting bags.

JB you dont need roasting bags, the chicken sits in the jug, i balance the chicken on the centre of the blades.
