Help needed . .!!! A computer question . . .

I've noticed that down in the bottom right hand corner of the posts that everyone seems to be tagged as "Logged" . . . on my posts there are a series of numbers which look to me as though they might represent my IP address.  I'm completely ignorant about such things and if there's anyone out there who can explain to me what's happened or what box I didn't tick I'd be grateful!
I'm not using anything other than a regular windows PC.

I had never really given this any thought to be honest, however I clicked on this and got the message:

"Your IP address is shown only to you and moderators. Remember that this information is not identifying, and that most IPs change periodically.

You cannot see other members' IP addresses, and they cannot see yours."

Hope that helps solve the mystery for you.

Goldfish the forum software loggs the Ip address of every person who post. Only the person posting a reply or starting a thread or a moderator can see thier IP address on the bottom of the post. It appears as "Logged" to everyone else.

Can I be ignorant and ask what IP stands for?  I've never taken any notice of 'logged on' so just checked some of my postings and it does have a number there instead of the words 'logged on'.  As a moderator I can still only see mine though, maybe MM can see everyone elses.

JD I think IP stand for Internet Protocol.  It is a network address that computers on a network use to recognize each other. THe numbers are arranged in blocks of 4. Each block can be between 1-3 numbers fr example 10.203.190.2, they can be either static or dynamic (don't change or change periodically)

All devices on a network must have an IP address.
