Thousand Island Dressing (a German recipe)
« on: April 30, 2012, 09:30:19 pm »
Hi Goldfish, Thanks for the link I think it says (I have only knowledge of tourist German):

225g mayonnaise
150g yoghurt
50g tomato ketchup
40g milk
10g lemon juice
10g parsley
Salt, pepper and Tabasco [to taste]
1 red pepper
4 gherkins
2 hard boiled eggs

Mayonnaise, yoghurt, tomato ketchup, milk, lemon juice and parsley and mix for 3 minutes / Speed 3.
Transfer to a bowl.
Add the peppers, gherkins, and the eggs 6 Seconds /Speed 4.
Add the chopped ingredients to the bowl [with the mayonnaise mixture] and stir.
Season with salt, pepper and Tabasco.

Hopefully a German speaker will confirm or correct my interpretation. :)

The German version can be found here

Hi Judy - this is actually a recipe for Thousand Island Dressing which kind of tacked itself onto the Salsa rosa thread . . . ;D  Do you think it could have a "renamed" thread?

Have done, sorry for the confusion. JD

Thanks for that . . . sorry to give you extra work . . . .   :)

Rosemary, this was a perfect translation. I've seen this recipe before on the German recipe community (rezeptwelt) and you've done very well!

This is very similar to a recipe a chef I knew used to use with what he called Hawaiian Fish. (It was back in the 70s) He also used to marinate the fish before battering in lime cordial! I know it sounds bizarre but it did work really well.  Of course he served the deep-fried fish with  small pieces of the obligatory deep-fried pine-apple & banana & chips :o  & salad. It was very popular in his restaurant & delish..though of course very politically incorrect now in these low fat, low carb days!!
