Want to go to a great place?
« on: September 17, 2012, 06:25:34 am »
We have returned from our camping trip to Wooleen station. It was fantastic. We stayed at the shearer's quarters which are extremely rustic but do have hot water and flush toilets. However if anyone doesn't mind driving over dirt roads and wants an awesome holiday in a lovely place I suggest you go to Wooleen. The homestead is beautiful and David and Frances are lovely young people. We went up with David's Dad who owns the station. Lots of red dust, wonderful sights and very early early mornings, thanks to one of our 'mob' singing at 6am every morning. Hopefully I'll post some photos later.

I climbed big rock outcrops and had my backside pushed through little spaces into beautiful caves.

Have a peek.

Welcome back Cookie.  That trip must have been a great experience for you and your 'mob' but I do like the look of the homestead accommodation  ;D   Still, there is nothing better than sitting around a campfire out in the open with a wonderful group of people - I take it you did this at night before you retired to your bedroom on wheels.  Did the dust manage to get into your room?

We were really pleased . The bed on wheels went very well. You certainly wouldn't want to share it with a stranger. It was a bit hot inside at night even with the windows down so DH is going to put a vent on the top. We slept with one door open to keep it cool.

It was really good with the dust. Very little came in, just a couple of bits. DH put foam round the door edges and window edges and that kept it all out. I thought we would have to shake the dust off everything but we didn't.  I do prefer the big van though as you can get changed inside that! This is good when a tent has to be used.

Our fellow travellers were very impressed by it.
