Does anyone else's spatula look like this?
« on: May 12, 2012, 11:40:55 am »
Hi everyone,
Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen to their spatula? Or am I just too rough scraping around the blades? We have had TM for quite a while now so maybe it is just wearing out?

Mine's gone a bit manky as well and have only had it for just over 6 months.  Actually I find the spatula difficult to use for scraping out and I am sure I read somewhere on the forum that some of the members use other spatulas for doing that.

You're right JB, it is pretty bad as a scraper and Amy, yours looks normal to me.  Mine looks like that and I rarely use it unless I am stirring whilst the blades are turning.  I don't even use it to hook the steamer out - I use a knife or fork or whatever as it is usually easier to grab.

Thanks for the fast replies ladies :D

I was worried I was just being too vigorous trying to get every last smidge of thermie-dinner goodness out of the bowl, so your replies make me feel a bit better :) Maybe I should find a different spatula to use too. This one worries me because, as you can probably see in the photo, bits of the plastic are starting to come off. I only like secret ingredients in my cooking when I'm the one putting them there...

Yep mine looks like that too. But I now have different spatulas that I use (mind you I have already taken a chunk out of both of the) :)
Not sure who got to eat those ;D

My TMx spatula looks worse than yours. I haven't used it  since it started to chip but  sometimes use it to remove the basket. You will find Helene's  spatulas the very best for the Thermomix, ThermoChef  HotmixPro because they can take any heat and are so flexible.
www.superkitchenmachine.com . If you are coming on the WA trip  Tenina  might have some as I think she sells them at her fantastic cooking classes.

Thanks Gert :)

I didn't realise how many other people have trouble with their spatulas! Its a shame, but I suppose something about the TM had to be flawed. Nothing is perfect after all :-))
