It was very common in the 'old days' for people to have fig trees it seems. I hated figs until a year ago when for some reason I decided to buy a few lovely looking fresh ones and was hooked. Now, no-one has a fig tree

Do you buy figs just at your local supermarket here in Australia? Never seen them, never eaten them, but once tried fig jam and.....I WANT MORE!

More likely to find them in greengrocers run by Italians - or at markets.

We visited the place we used to get our figs from the other day and they haven't been watering them so the first crop are so shrivelled and yucky. No figs for us this year.

Certainly can - just soak a few hours (or overnight). You may be able to cut down on the sugar too,

yummy. GHM use the whole fruit. Fig and Ginger is delic. Make sure you use plenty of lemon juice as figs are low in pectin.

Lucky you GHM. I like fig jam with almond bits folded through at the end.
