Yes CarolineW & mama-bel has the right idea of weaning them off commercial brands.  Another suggestion would be to make them go without it for quite a while (tell them the shops don't have any and don't take them shopping with you :-))) then when you make it yourself they may have forgotten what the bought stuff tasted like.

So have made this a few times, mainly to use in African quinoa stew. Love it and licking the leftovers in the bowl.
