Not have enough roll oats, so 3:1 of roll oats and steel cut oats. Instead of sunflower seeds, used 30g pepita. Don't have dried rosemary, so just omit. It's quite sticky when forming patties. Turn out OK and serve it with tomato chutney.
I prefer Walnut Patties though.

Thanks for the review for this Denzelmum. The recipe didn't really inspire me, so I'll go with your recommendation and try the walnut patties first!

I made these yesterday - I followed the recipe 100%. The mixture made my machine seriously dance all over the benchtop! It was VERY thick and gluggy and sticky, put it in the fridge to cool down, but it took ages so I formed them into patties while still a bit warm. I made 11 decent sized patties - it was quite hard to form the patties into regular shapes because of how sticky it was. I quite enjoyed the taste, and they formed nice firm burgers, not at all crumbly. Had another for lunch today and they had improved overnight, so I would give them a 7/10 for taste but 4/10 for ease of preparation (I HATE having sticky hands so for me this was a biggie). Looking forward to trying the walnut burgers next time.

Faffa, I wonder if we could make this into a 'slice' of sorts - instead of making burgers just pour the whole lot into a lined baking dish - at least then you wouldn't need to worry about having to cool the mixture first. . I definitely enjoyed the taste enough to give that a go next time. I will report back if I do decide to do that!

I prefer walnut patties in the same book. Easier to handle and taste yum!

I made these tonight following the recipe.
It makes heaps!
I too found the mixture runny and wet and no way in hell was I going to stick my hands in that so I used an icecream scoop
(I did put the jug in the fridge to cool down hoping that it would thicken up and it didn't
)
They tasted nice and the whole family enjoyed the burgers....that was a bonus.
The chilli lime dressing is not to my liking though.
7.5/10
I would make again but halve the recipe.

Oh fundj the mixture looked terrible
that's why I had to use the icecream scoop.
Kept telling the kids it's going to taste nice .....it's going to taste nice.
Think I brain washed them

I've just made these but balked at putting in the full amount of water, so put in 1litre. They were really thick and at one point I thought that my TM might blow up! They're in the oven now and look OK. I made some of them as burgers but put the rest of the mixture in a pan with twelve spaces??? It's got a proper name but I can't remember it. Now I get to clean my machine. Not looking forward to it.
