Curried Rice Gift in a Jar
« on: December 17, 2012, 01:05:11 am »
Find this recipe here  http://www.allfreecrafts.com/giftinajar/curried-rice.shtml with a print out label which includes cooking directions.

You will need a 500g jar, I used sultanas instead of raisins and fried dried onions. I think you could add more curry powder, 3/4 tsp is not a lot in a quantity of rice that says serves 8 as an accompaniment (I'd say no more than 6 serves). The directions are for normal stove stop cooking so I tested it.  Very tasty but some of the rice stuck to the bottom of my non-stick pan (easy to remove with soaking though) so I would tell your recipient to use very low heat to keep the simmer happening. This is something different and I'm very pleased with it.

Great idea Judy. Good to see a savoury jar idea rather than sweet things. Putting this on my list for next Christmas.

How very clever.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.
