Adobo sauce - recipe
« on: May 16, 2013, 01:19:50 am »
Hi everyone

I want to try a new recipe that needs adobo sauce. I can't find a recipe on its own so if anyone has one, I would love it or if you can tell me where I would find it in the supermarket as it's not showing up on woolworths online.

Tasty i buy it from Casa Iberica in Melbourne. i think there are some online mexican stores that you would be able to purchase it from.

I found something at Woollies today called cholula sauce which I bought. It's mexican hot sauce. Would it be the same thing?

Cholula is more a chili sauce in the same vein as Tabasco (although a hell of a lot milder).

I have some chipotle peppers in adobo sauce - haven't cracked it open but this is the list of ingredients.

It wouldn't be the same tasty, adobe sauce (in my experience) is a very thick smokey sauce. Kyton they are the chillies we buy from casa iberica and we love them. we find them very hot but others at work use the whole tin in a single dish  :-))

Good to know Wonder. I bought them with a beef chili dish in mind just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I bought ours at Bibina which is a sort of wholesale (but open to the public) grocery supply place.

I love the website name, perfect for selling hot things.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Well I wouldn't even know where to get the chillies to make the sauce and wouldn't get the sauce delivered on time for the recipe I want to make in the next day or so.....so what is the next best alternative I am likely to have?

I found out that a shop in Coventry markets in morley has them. Just have to get there one weekend. I still haven't made the recipe I needed it for.
