Farm Fresh Produce - Now what to do with it?
« on: March 19, 2013, 02:51:33 am »
My cousins are The Farmer & The Chef and they've recently teamed up with Farmhouse Direct. They have seen me posting a million and one different food pics on Facebook and decided to send me their autumn veggie box.

Only problem is I have no idea what to do with it! So I have more capsicum, sweet peppers and chilli than I know what to do with.

What ideas do you have? I can't let any of it go to waste and I want them to see something spectacular from me.

I do have more than that obviously with garlic, zucchini (biggest I've ever seen) and butternut, but I think I can work with those.

Piperade is a fabulous French Basque capsicum casserole/sauce that uses lots of capsicums, and tastes and looks great.

Here is a link to Julia Child's recipe for piperade.   This is not a TMX recipe, but I am sure you could adapt it.

It can be eaten on its own, as a vegetable side dish, as a sauce over meat, or over a quiche or omellette.

Good luck!

Karen's idea is good.  I would also roast and peel some and freeze in small lots,  to use later on, on pizzas.

I would make a onion, garlic, chilli, capsicum relish, to go over cold meats ect.

It all looks so wonderful and fresh, almost glowing. Lucky you.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

What does the chef partner to the farmer recommend?
