Malt bread recipe
« on: July 13, 2012, 05:07:26 pm »
DH went shopping today, came home with malted bread by Soreen.
Has anyone made this, or got a good recipe?

Thanks in advance.

DJ,  yes.  My DH Loves malt in bread.  You have to use a special malt.  I buy mine at a shop that sells stuff for beer making.    I just add a good tablespoon full to a wholemeal loaf.  Count it as part of the liquid content.  You can also buy malted grain,  also used in beer making.  One of our Forum members makes her own malted grain.  I am sure many other bread makers will have good advice.  You could also Google Dan Lepard , to see if he has posted a recipe. Let us know how you go.

CC,  just had a look at the sticky malt loaf you linked.  Looks great.  Think I will make it for morning tea.  Thanks a million.

Thanks The malt is easy to get, I may even have some, but it may have been ditched as too old when we moved last year.
I think I have made it before but it is never really sticky like the ones you buy.
Malted grains easy to get too.

Look forward to hearing how you get on. Thanks again to you both.

This was in the weekend papers.

It has yeast in it, I am going to try this soon.
