Cleaning Burnt Food From Bowl
« on: April 10, 2012, 01:23:42 pm »
Hi everyone,

Unfortunately I burnt the base of the TM bowl cooking a risotto tonight. I soaked it in cold soapy water straight away and have washed and scrubbed it(using scouring pad suitable for non-stick cookware) several times but the burnt colour is still there. Can anyone recommend how I might be able to safely remove this discolouration? Thanking you in advance.

Bi-carb soda works well.

There are some instructions in the user manual (or EDC)? that involve cooking it with vinegar, water and detergent I think.. Let us know if you can't find it and I can look it up for you.

Gee I hate when things like this happen. Maybe try leaving it soaking overnight. I find a magic eraser is great for getting rid of the last of the discoloring from burning and brings the TM bowl back to new.
There are other links to these issues which I'm sure someone will point out for you.

Added to that, I find that dishwasher powder works really well on burned pots. Leave to soak overnight.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I don't soak my bowl. I just put it in the dishwasher and if there is still any burnt foodstuff left on the bowl after the dishwasher I just use a non stick pan scourer and that usually gets the rest off.

I just burnt my bowl pretty badly doing the vege stock: I forgot to put the parmiggiano aside prior to put the veges so the cheese cooked for 45 minutes at 90°: ouch!

After several attempts of cleaning, I put some hot water, vinegar and bicarb into the bowl, 25 minutes, varoma temp and it's now totally clean!

Feeling  ;D

I burnt butter chicken in mine last night - no idea how, have made the recipe a hundred times, but anyway...
I put water to cover the blades, a good slurp of vinegar and a splodge of bicarb soda. Cooked it for 10 minutes varoma speed 2. let it sit for a bit and then washed it.
Good as new.  :)

It looks like vinegar and bi carb are still good stuff. I use them for a lot.
