Review Chicken Roulades ITM2 page 134
« on: November 27, 2013, 02:03:58 am »
This is one part of a recipe called Chicken 4 Ways.  I halved the recipe using 1 large chicken fillet and I have enough for 3 servings. There is also a sauce in that recipe which is made on the stove and although the slices were very tasty they definitely needed a bit of sauce over them.  I have since made the sauce to have with the leftover slices and it is very tasty as well.

Whilst the roulade was steaming I took advantage of it, filled the steaming basket with small potatoes and adding a couple of eggs in with the chicken in the varoma bowl.  This became the fried potato slices on my plate for lunch and a potato salad for later.

I made the roll a few hours before I needed it and used prosciutto to wrap the chicken before the browning in the frypan step.
This is really tasty but needs the sauce.

The roulade is nice cold if cut very thinly like shaved meat.

Lol.  Nice presentation Judy. You are making it hard not to buy the book.   :P

My DH is picking up MOTM and the Asian book from the PO as I type this and am really trying not to buy any more just yet.  :-\

Thanks Julie. It sounds as if you'll have enough books to keep you busy for a while longer.

Judy,  thanks for the review,  Sounds like it was a bit dry,  which can be the problem with chicken breast.

Yes it does tend to be which is why I prefer to use thighs but I had some very thin slices with salad for my tea and that worked better than the thick slices.  I think 30 minutes steaming was probably a little too long too.

Thanks for the review Judy. The reviews make the book more realistic if we haven't seen it.
