Loaf Bread!! Need help~~

hi~ i've owned thermomix about 5weeks now and ever since i got it i've been making lotta bread.. especially loaf breads...
after making a dough i know that u have to leave it for it to get double the size.. but it seems it doesn't get that size... at least for me... is there something that i'm doing wrong?? Please help~~~ i'm following the instruction... ??? ???

is the water warm enough? which recpie are you using? i use the the no fuss bread one its the best.
i add 1 1/2 teaspoon of bread improver

Nikki as funjd said make sure the water is warm- not too hot not too cold. Check your yeast is in date and leave it in a warm spot until it doubles in size, this will take as long as it takes depending on the weather where you live. You can't put a time on it unfortunately.

Agree with both previous posters.  I find the rising time depends on many factors, including the initial water temperature.  Personally I use fresh yeast as it gives me better results but I've had some bad batches of that as well.  :-\

I've found that you have to be patient with bread. When you are waiting on it, it never seems to rise fast enough.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Thank you very much everybody!! :-)) i did use cold water... will tell u the truth i think everything was cold ( i'm using thermomix recipe )

Nikki don't worry ! No wonder it didn't rise!!! The recipe doesn't say to use warm water I think it is just assumed which is really silly considering some people who have a Thermomix have never made bread before  ??? Also if you are using loose yeast then I use two teaspoons to 500g of flour or one sachet. Also remember that if your water is too hot it will kill the yeast off.

I usually wrap my dough in the bread mat and place it in the cold oven, then put an inch or two of boiling water in a baking dish, and place onto the bottom shelf of the oven, under the bread dough.  It will rise within 15-20 mins.  I don't use warm water in my bread - just tap water.  If I have plenty of time and don't need to rise it quickly, I rise it in a plastic bag in the fridge for 4 hrs or overnight - it tastes soooo good when you do a slow rise like this, especially with brioche dough!!  :)

Hi, I always use a thermometer to take the temperature of the water before adding it to the yeast, but with the Thermomix, I just have to put the temperature to the lowest setting on the machine--37--and it seems to work for me, as I think 37 is the correct, temp the water should be. Marnie

Nikkipark, try Isi,s recipe  for portuguse rolls, until you get it right.    With a warm environment, that is was water, warm room, 20/25o, you can make a loaf in 2 hours.   the EDC recipe is good but the method is not right.

Nikki, lots of advice here from people in the know so you should soon have a success story to tell us. I like isi's method of letting the dough rise in the TMX bowl and if it isn't warm enough in my kitchen I just put the bowl outside in the sun and before long it is poking it's little head out of the hole in the lid.  I was a hopeless bread maker and had no intention of making it in my TMX but this forum got me moving and I am very pleased with my efforts these days.
