Thermomix and Soda Stream..?
« Reply #15 on: February 24, 2014, 11:50:42 am »
We have had a soda stream since Christmas and I just drink the soda water but my girls add fruit juice to it, we don't buy the soda juices for same reason...chemicals yuk!! Hadn't thought of making my own cordials, something else to try in Thermie!!!

My strawberry cordial worked well even with half the sugar, and like you cookie, I still find it sweet. I often drink the plain mineral water but sometimes like to fancy it up a bit or make a cocktail. The syrups aren't TERRIBLE since they market them as a healthier option to regular soft drinks (no high fructose corn syrup, no aspertame) but I feel better making it myself and knowing exactly what went into it.

Now, if only I could figure out how to make tonic for a G&T!

Heston used his soda stream in one of his shows to make a fizzy wine. He used Blue Nun,a white sweet wine, to see if he could get the same effect as champagne. A lot of his taste testers prefered the Blue Nun to the champagne.

Isn't that interesting! Do you remember if they carbonated the wine directly? My instructions are really clear about not carbonating anything other than plain water but I'm curious.

That's hilarious!! Found a few videos with people exploding their soda streams and trashing their kitchens so I think I'll stick to water  :o

I tried to carbonate some flat wine but it exploded out of the bottle lol, so I either filled the bottle too full or need a different method!
