Helping to stop avocados from going brown

I always leave the stone in, wet some paper towel, scrunch it on top of  a half an avocado and it will stay fine for a few days.

I don't bother to put it into a container most times.

I have an avocado in the fridge at the moment using the onion idea.  It's been there for a couple of days now and no sign of any brown on it yet.

That's interesting.  So if it is a case of absorbing condensation, do you think that, perhaps, a paper towel would be as effective as an onion?

Why not try it Cuilidh and report back (if I don't get round to it first).

If I am organised enough this week I definitely will, Julie ... will have to get my hands on an appropraite container first, though!  Actually, I might get two containers and try the onion and kitchen paper experiments side by side with the same avocado - except I will only have one pip, so that may leave things a bit 'uneven'.
