Help required on how to remove smells from plastic parts and seals of Thermomix

I have had a thermomix for a few months and have never been able to get rid of the smell of onions garlic herbs and oil form the plastic seals and lid. It is very off-putting and quite a strong stale smell. The very first thing I made with the help of my demonstrator was make basic stock then Minestrone soup. The smell of this has never left. Sautéing  Onions, garlic herbs makes it worse. I have soaked the parts in vinegar but this did nothing. It is not a nice smell and is uninviting to use it for sweets. I feel like I can taste this smell in everything I do in the Thermomix.
Does anyone have a simple answer?

Michymoo welcome to the forum first of all. My suggestion is to purchase a new lid with seal and keep one for sweets and one for savoury.

I find the food is not tainted at all but once you think it is it will be forevermore so bite the bullet and just buy an extra lid. No angst  solution.

I've only had one of the new seals for about 6 months. If I go close and smell it I can smell the onions, curry etc. I store my lid upside down on the bowl and the small smell doesn't really worry me.
However I think Gert's solution is perfect if it does. It is a cheap, good solution.

The original plain black seal didn't seem to hold smells but the one used now has a silicone edge so that must be what the problem is.  I do what Cookie does, it airs the bowl and lid between uses and with the lid not in place, the seal will last longer.

Have you tried making a paste of water and bicarb of soda and rubbing that on the offensive parts?

The new seal in the TM5 is the same . Mine is yellow and smelly but no matter. Makes no difference to the food flavours.

If the seal becomes damaged or worn etc-  I'm assuming the whole lid needs to be replaced....had better fall in the warranty period.... :/

My new one gets smelly too. Just from the food I have been cooking. I decided so that it doesn't worry me I keep my nose and the lid at a distance from each other at all times.

Would leaving it out in the sun for a while help? I saw on FB this week someone had left her new TM5 lid out in the sun after it discoloured from a curry - worked a treat.
