I tried this and it was a terrible failure. The TM, despite all statements about how it stirs better than any other machine because food doesn't get caught beneath the blades, failed me. I ended up with rubbery material spread thickly beneath the blades on the bottom of the bowl and around the base that turns immediately under the blades. Presumably all that stuff was meant to be distributed throughout the mixture to enable it to set and set it did not. I am using it as turkish delight icecream sauce and it's not bad for that purpose, but what I wanted was home-made turkish delight.
Please send more instructions on how to avoid this.
Please also tell me whether, if you reduce the quantity (if I make 1/2, for example), you modify the cooking time in the TM.
Tks v much

Sorry it didn't work out for you. Sares had asked that no one make it until she has perfected it. I can understand your frustration with it not working.

Hi All,
I have joined today to let you know I had great success with this recipe and I noticed a few people were having issues. I probably have an unnatural love of Turkish Delight and was really pleased to see Sares recipe. I only tweeked the amount of cornflour used to 250g. When I put the sugar on the stove I made sure it was exactly 110 degrees, it turned a lovely golden colour. When I poured the sugar mixture into the thermomix bowl I used a spatula to squish it together and get rid of any white cornflour lumps. Throughout the 60 minute cooking time I stopped the machine periodically to give it another stir(this was also a really good excuse to lick the spatula). I also couldn't find my butterfly attachment and it worked out fine without it. It only needed to cool in the fridge for two hours, it was all I could wait to be honest. Now I have made a total pig of myself (before dinner too, oh the shame
). Anyway, it has worked a treat and after all my failed attempts over the years I am now REALLY happy that I can make this anytime I want. Thanks Sares!

A big thank you for reporting back on this. I absolutely love Turkish delight. I had some a couple of months ago and pigged out. I'm not sure if I will make this though or I am sure to eat it all.
I'm really glad that it worked for you.

I'm going to give this a go even with the fails above, so many turkish delight lovers in my life that if it fails I will tweak and try again.

Still no luck with this one, I'm currently doing a bit of recipe research to see if I can figure out what is going on.

Thanks. It will be interesting to see if you can. Sares was on Taste.com.au and made some lovely food.

I have a feeling that the temperature may be the problem, I'm going to try the stove top and see if I get a better result. Then work back to thermo if I can. I've seen some of the recipes, they look fantastic.

I wonder what ever happened to Sares. When I used to be on the Taste forum she was a prolific poster but I haven't been on there in ages.

I occasionally go back on there and check it out, but it is all different now. Not forum like.
She was certainly a prolific poster, like Maddy and Ragdoll. ( JulieO)
