Don't know what happened there  ???  At least we got to enjoy a cake - it was loads of fun and I will do it again.
Maybe DS whom also thought it was fun and took a starter will give one back to me.  :)

Pity about the ants Mich.
Herman sounds like a lot of fun.

Just saw this forum and thought I would bump up this topic...People often ask how long does Herman last...My wife has just past the 5yr mark, using the mix to bake a cake every 3 weeks. How long can he be left? We go to India for 3 weeks every year and he sits on table till we get home, good stir and we are back on track. You name it my wife has tried it..pear apple cherry strawberry marshmellow.... the list is endless. :)

Love this recipe, but as I am the only one who eats cake here, I am sure that I would eat the lot.
I have tried to tell myself that as it isSD it would be good food. But the wild yeast which develops needs the sugar and flour,  Wondering if the sugar could be reduced?
