She used to be on the radio over here and I really enjoyed listening but sadly she isn't anymore. Hopefully someone can find out for us with so many TMXes out there.

Yeah and make sure if you do ring don't mention it is a Thermomix - may not be such a good ad -  Could just say it is the cutting blades out of a food processor that also can cook - (she may need to know it gets hot)

those of you who are having it happen (not i, after 2 years), are you using it to boil water a lot? (ie: varoma or steamer). sounds like what happens when you poach eggs a lot in a regular pan. my mum used to add vinegar to the water to prevent it.

I wondered whether it was from a dishwasher, you know how some metal objects can tarnish if put in there?

always using it to steam 

blades have been in the dishwasher a couple of times as well

Only other thing I can think of, is when steaming, if the water level goes below the blades, it may cause them to discolour?

I read something today about cucumber:
"Looking for a 'green' way to clean your faucets, sinks or stainless steel?  Take a slice of cucumber and rub it on the surface you want to clean, not only will it remove years of tarnish and bring back the shine, but is won't leave streaks and won't harm you fingers or fingernails while you clean."
Could this be true??

I don't know. Will it work on the blades though since they aren't stainless?

Wonder if Steve from HQ would be able to help?  He uses gumption for some cleaning.  Just wonder how harsh the Stainless Steel cleaners might be?

You can dismantle the blades, so may be best to do that to give them a good clean away from the spindle and important bits.

I think I am just going to get another bowl and blade set and keep that mainly for demos! That solves my problem then, it is a tax deduction AND I have a spare set as well as a set that is less used and shinier for demo's. Well that is my justification for spending the money lol

I tried the cucumber thing on my sink yesterday and sadly it didn't work for me.
