new here but not to Thermomix
« on: October 22, 2009, 06:52:41 am »
Hi All - I am new on this Forum but not new to the Thermomix since I have had the TM21 for 7 yrs. My younger son bought the TM31 which I found absolutely fabulous. It had a few additional functions which I envied him for and found a demonstrator to show me all the advantages of the TM31. There are but a few.

I bought the TM31 and a second bowl as my son mentioned that it was there for practical reasons, e.g. no need to wash the bowl in between dishes when preparing a dinner with friends. I hmmmmmed and ahhhhhed and bought the bowl and yes, it is of advantage since it cuts down the speed of cooking even more so.

Although it is a tremendous outlay on the surface but when I think about it, I am glad I bought it, now sadly living on my own, because I very rarely use the hob! I use the machine ea and every day and cook for myself and my dog, yes, i cook for him too!

I have made some fab recipes with it e.g. the Italian Spaghetti Nests. I have also made my own Mascarpone. It was great. Has anyone made those yet? Take care and enjoy your machine. Ingrid

Hi and welcome to the forum inkha. Once a TMX owner always a TMX owner by the look of it.  That's scary, to think a new model is so much better than the old one.  I think my TM31 can't be improved on by much but guess they always come up with something bigger and better - I just hope it isn't anytime too soon :D :D

Hi Ingrid, Welcome to the forum.  I just ordered a second bowl too - can't wait as I know it's going to speed up things even more!!  So many times I've got a soup or ragu cooking and I think to myself, I should have made up a quick batch of bread dough - now I can quickly take off what's cooking, mill some grains etc for the bread dough and then whip the soup or whatever back on to continue cooking - also, when I'm making custard I like to make different flavours and so have to wait for one to finish cooking then remove the custard and wash the bowl and start up the next flavour, now I can have one cooking and one ready to go as soon the timer goes off. Can't wait to get it!!!

ps I must look into that Italian recipe you mentioned. :)

Welcome Ingrid. I can certainly see the advantages of a second bowl. Perhaps Santa will bring me one. :P

Welcome Ingrid - great to have a veteran of the TMX on board.  You will have lots to teach us.  Sad to hear you are single, but good to hear there is a four-legged friend  :-* :-* :-* :-*

Welcome Ingrid! I'd love a second jug, but having just purchased my TM31 (I had a TM21, but didn't use it 'coz it was too noisy), the finances won't quite cover it.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

If you cannot find the recipe I will put it onto this forum for you. another brilliant recipe as a starter or as a supper plus salad dish is the Parmesan-Nutroast! I gave 1/2 to my helpful neighbour because it was just too much for one person and dog, lol. I was then told by his wife that he devoured all! and left nothing for her nor his son. He apologized to me and I promised that I would make a new one today. Stuff for that is waiting to be used, lol. - I must admit that cooking with the TM31 my eating habits are even healthier than they were before the machine and I do not miss the meats despite the fact I am not a vegetarian. After I have done the P.-nutroast I will make a smoked salmon cream soup. Hope it will turn out alright. Planning a dinner for some friends and need to know what I shall be cooking. They all know that I have this machine costing as much as a new set of car tires, lol. cheers.
