Help ! Sticky fig and date pudding QFITT
« on: February 22, 2014, 04:55:14 am »
I'm making this for guests tonight.

The pudding themselves are fine but the sauce just turns out to be a dark thin horribly sweet mess that looks burnt

I've made it twice, once with cooking cream and now with thickened cream.  It's inedible

Has anyone else had issues with this sauce.

I think I'll just make a custard instead
I do the best I can

Forget the sauce and serve it with cream,  if you have any left ,  or custard.

Very disappointing. I'd follow Chookie's advice. Or even icecream.

Have you compared it to the sauce with the Sticky Date pudding in the EDC chrissa - that one works well.

I ended up making the brandy custard from QFITT but used frangelico

The puddings were lovely and very nice with the custard.

I let the sauce cool to see if it improved on sitting but it was still unusable,  very disappointing.

Judy, I have made that sauce from the EDC before and it was very nice.  I will make that next time.

I'm glad it worked out.
